연출의도 statement
〈선 없는 땅따먹기〉은 ‘땅따먹기’라는 한국 전래 놀이의 맥락을 빌려온다. 땅따먹기에서 플레이어는 자신의 집 안에서 집 밖으로 말(馬, piece)을 튕겨 보낸다. 말은 총 세 번 튕길 수 있는데, 단 세 번 안에 말이 자신의 집 안으로 돌아와야 한다. 그러면 말이 지나간 선(線) 안은 자신의 땅이 된다. 이 작업은 땅따먹기를 보다 큰 단위에서, 하지만 무척 느린 단위로 진행해보는 것이다. 퍼포머가 말이 되어, 자신이 현재 살고 있는 곳에서 출발해 과거에 살았던 곳으로 움직인다. 이때 퍼포머는 자신의 앞과 뒤로 카메라를 달아, 앞 풍경과 뒷 풍경을 동시에 촬영한다. 말이 걷기 시작하면서 풍경은 점점 다가오다가 시선 뒤로 물러난다. 이 땅따먹기에서 말이 지나간 선은 기록되지 않는다. 말을 향해 다가오고, 굴절되고, 스쳐가고, 멀어지는 풍경의 선만이 지속된다. 과거에 살았던 곳에 도착한 말은 그곳을 뒤로 한바퀴 뒤로 걷는다. 역행은 앞뒤의 방향을 단번에 역전시킨다. 불안한 균형. 간헐적으로 뒤도는 고개. 부딪히거나 부딪히기 직전까지의 주춤. 말은 다시 집을 향해 걷기 시작한다.

Lineless Territory Game borrows the context of a traditional Korean game called “ttang-ttameokgi”. In this territory game, a player flicks a piece from inside their "home" to the outside. The piece can be flicked a total of three times, but it must return home within those three moves. If successful, the area inside the lines traced by the piece becomes the player’s territory. This work carries out this territory game on a much larger, yet significantly slower, scale. The performer becomes the "piece," departing from their current home and moving toward a former residence. During this process, the performer mounts cameras to their front and back to simultaneously film the views ahead and behind. As the piece begins to walk, the landscape gradually approaches and then recedes behind the field of vision. In this territory game, the lines traced by the piece are not recorded. Only the landscape lines—approaching, refracting, brushing past, and moving away—remain continuous. Upon arriving at the former residence, the piece walks backward once around its boundary. This reverse movement instantly flips the directions of front and back. An unstable balance. Intermittently turning the head. Hesitating just before or at the moment of impact. The piece begins walking toward home again.
